A Tribute to Our King
Jesus is our King of King and Lord of Lords. I wrote this Christmas poem one morning
while reflecting on His majesty and His infinite gifts to us.
In royal courts there once was He
Who lived in honored majesty.
Of realms and worlds and stars divine
Of dust, of particles, and galaxies sublime,
The Son arose more glorious than them all.
To save mankind, redeem us from the Fall.
Angels and God’s children sang with joy above
That one so vast with luminous love
Should descend to Earth mid mortals mean
And emerge from within a manger scene.
His Father God, His mother meek,
The lowly babe: Shepherds and wise men seek.
He inspired us toward a heavenward climb,
His birth would ever mark our time
As years before and after He
Who taught us to love and seek for peace.
Jesus timeless, loving, pure,
Holy, Wonderful, Counsellor, true.
Mankind will curse, deride, and kill,
Groping in their gross darkness still.
In pride and vanity, men are lost,
Never stopping to count the cost:
The joy, the peace they might have found
Had they hearkened to His wisdom sound.
Turn, look up, remember Him
Who descended from His throne above
To light your way, to save your soul,
To bring you back to your heavenly home,
With Him to rule and rein above
And live in mansions filled with love.
For Him we long, He hails the meek.
Let’s turn to Him, His peace we’ll seek.
All who submit their hearts, wills, and minds
To heaven’s glorious plan Divine
And to the One the Father sent,
He’ll heal our souls and bodies bless.
With Christ and the Father we may be one
With one another, old and young,
Let’s live together in harmonious love
On Earth as it is in heaven above.
Reject the darkness, step into the light.
For Jesus has already won the fight.
In glory we gather ‘round Him now
With adoration we do bow.
The bells peal out loud and long
Heaven’s glorious immortal song:
Peace on earth, good will to men
Our God has saved us from our sins!
