Photography

I feel like I’ve been looking through the lens of a camera all my life. I carried a camera to girl’s camp and church youth conferences, took pictures wherever I went. I had one photography class in college and used to have a better camera. For years, all I had was a phone filled with thousands of photos. Santa brought me a Canon Rebel T7 for Christmas 2021. I’ll share some of my better photos here. Follow me on Instagram here.

  • Step Outside Your Comfort Zone and Receive Gifts

Clad in my camo snowmobile suit, raspberry-colored knit hat (to warn off deer hunters), red gloves, and boots, I slip my camera strap over my head and emerge from my warm house into the cold, overcast January morning.  Ready for bird photography, I scan my front yard and walk toward the field. • Sunsets: A Lesson in Nature’s Equality

Each sunset is unique. There’s not one that is the same, even when you’re looking at the same patch of sky night after night after night. It’s easy to let the days run into each other, going through the motions, head-down, nose to the grindstone, and miss out on the wonders and beauties to be…

  • The Light Within

Within each human heart is a divine spark, forged in the eternal light of God. This light connects us to all of nature, and to each other. In this light we are all one and are one with all things because this light infuses all things, gives light to all things, and gives life to…

  • Lunar Eclipses and Lackluster Experiences

The most recent lunar eclipse in mid-May taught me something about my expectations and how I let them rob me of the joy of the moment. I was able to capture some photos of the eclipse while it was in process. Unfortunately, just as it reached its peak, the haze moved in and then the…
