Wood Burning Art

I’m working on an art project using a wood burner. I’d tell you what it is, but my hubby reads my blog and it’s a Christmas gift for him. So mum’s the word for now. But I wanted to share a good 5-minute video I found that is helping me know what I need to do this project and how to do it.

Update: One thing I highly recommend you get are some heat resistant finger protection. I would have burnt the devil out of my fingers if I had not purchased these finger protection guards.

I also purchased just a cheap woodburning kit from Michael’s. In retrospect I should have bought something nicer. I’m not sure it heated up enough. It also only had one tip that was like a pencil point. It’s possible that the wood I got had been treated not to burn because certain areas of it were much more difficult to burn. It was a time consuming process on the darker streaks of the wood.

But I did complete the project. Here is what I created – signs for our property. My husband loved them.
