Do I Really Have to Select a Niche? Or Specialty?

Do you have trouble selecting a niche? Does it feel like all the other possibilities die when you have to zone in on one thing? Or like you’re being too restricted if you have to select one pathway? If so, you might be an iNtuitive on the Meyers-Briggs Personality Theory.

iNtuitives often struggle selecting a career or a niche for their businesses. I’ve often heard iNtuitives who are 50+ years of age say something like, “I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.”

Why Do iNtuitives Struggle Selecting a Niche?

Why do iNtuitives on the Meyers-Briggs Personality Theory have trouble selecting a career or a niche for their businesses?

One possible reason is that Intuitives tend to be more interested in exploring different possibilities and ideas than sticking to one specific path. They may have many passions and interests, and they may not want to limit themselves to a narrow niche that could restrict their creativity and growth.

iNtuitives also want the freedom to follow their inner guidance system, their intuition or inspiration which could take them anywhere! I often call iNtuitives “pollinators” for this very reason. We’re free spirits!

This isn’t a bad thing… you just need to learn some things about yourself and how to work with your natural giftings. (This is what I do with my clients.)

iNtuitives may also find it hard to commit to a niche because they are always looking for new challenges and opportunities, and they may fear missing out on something better or more exciting. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is real for iNtuitives!

iNtuitives may also struggle with selecting a niche because they are more focused on the big picture and the future than the details and the present. They may have a vision of what they want to achieve, but they may not have a clear plan of how to get there.
