What I Learned About Living from Near Death Experiences

I have been watching a lot of Near-Death Experience stories lately. David mentioned I’d shifted my focus to a new interest, and I said “No, this all correlates with my message of finding peace.” My book (Finding Peace in a Turbulent World: Living in Sacred Nature) talks about connecting with our Core Sacred Self™ and syncing up with the Divine so we have more consistent love, joy, and peace in our lives.

What I’m learning from watching these near-death experiences (aka NDE’s) is that the Core Sacred Self™ is all that is left after someone dies. It’s hardwired for love, peace, connection and oneness with God and all of His creations. This part of us knows we have always existed, and it becomes apparent to these folks that mortality is a gift. Every moment and experience is a gift.

Discovering Your Core Sacred Self

I’ve been pondering a lot on this “being” I have always been. What did she want to experience in mortality? There have been times I’ve been playing whatever flows on the piano, and I have felt that this is something I wanted to experience. I wanted to put my fingers on a keyboard and create music that I could hear with human ears. It’s as if this melody was in me from eons back and that I longed for a day to play it in human form.

What else did I long to do here? Bear children? Raise them? Kiss their chubby little cheeks, hug them? Meet eternal friends, recognize them here, and be here for them on their journeys? And let them love and be here for me too?

Plant wildflowers and walk through them? Pick a salad from my garden and eat it moments later? Watch sunsets? Sit amidst wildflowers with my husband and talk of eternity?

I get the feeling this divine being inside me is fearless, confident and wise. She’s not making up excuses or limiting stories. She’s not stuck in the past. She’s living life to its fullest moment to moment… or at least she longs to… and she’s probably in there observing without any judgement, yet really curious about why I’m letting limited thinking or beliefs get in the way of the amazing power and grace God is showering on me, that I have access to every single moment.

What would you be, do, or say today if you lived from your fearless, loving, and peaceful Core Sacred Self™?

Near Death Experience Resources I Enjoy

  • Heaven Awaits – YouTube Channel with lots of near death experience accounts from real people
  • The Other Side NDE – Another good YouTube Channel with lots of near death experience accounts from real people
  • Return from Tomorrow by George Ritchie – this is the first near death experience book I read. It is my all-time favorite and has given me a lot of clarity and understanding about our existence. Read it! It’s fabulous!
  • The Light After Death by Vincent Todd Tolman – this is a fantastic story about a young man who died and came back to life. His account is truly remarkable and insightful.
  • Dying to Be Me by Anita Moorjani – Anita’s body is ravaged with lymphoma and her organs all start shutting down. She dies, sees the other side, comes back, and is miraculously healed within days. Anita had a mixed upbringing as an Indian Hindu girl growing up in Hong Kong. She went to a Catholic school as a small child and was exposed to Chinese faith traditions from her Chinese Nanny. Most of the near-death experiences I’ve read about are from a Christian perspective. Anita’s story is from a different angle. While I don’t know how I feel about all of her conclusions, her message about authenticity and healing is quite profound.

  1. Love this post Marnie!! I too have been interested in NDE stories. I’ve read a few but none of those you listed. So I’ll have to put them on my reading list. I am familiar with Anita Moorjani’s story. I heard an interview with her. Her story is miraculous to say the least!

    1. Thanks, Joanne! Anita Moorjani’s story really gave me a lot to think about. The admonition her father and best friend gave her when they met her on the other side was, “Go back and live your life fearlessly.” That statement runs through my mind a lot… how can I live my life more fearlessly? What does that look like?
