Simple 3-Step Formula for Retaining Your Epiphanies

Would you like to receive more answers from God, glean more from your epiphany and joy moments, and recall them when you need them?

Have you ever had an aha moment, a deep insight, or a moment of pure joy where you learned something new? It felt revolutionary in the moment, something that could change your life and the way you look at things forever. But then time passed, and you forgot about it. You thought it would become a part of you, but it slipped through your fingers.

Would you like to make these moments last forever and stick with you? Would you love for them to make the impact you felt they would make in the moment they happened? There’s a simple way to make these aha moments “stick.” It’s a 3-step formula I’ve used for years. In fact, I’ve probably used it my entire life because my dad taught me to do it as a small child.

Step 1: Learn It.

The first step is to learn something from the epiphany, joy moment, or aha moment. That sounds obvious but take time to really ponder on what happened. Get all the juice from it you can get.

Step 2: Document It.

Now write down or audio record or video record the epiphany. Explain it, put it into words. This is important because many times an aha moment is more of a feeling than it is a conceptual thought. But if you take the time to articulate it, you will draw the nuances out of it. If you can explain it enough to document it, you’re fleshing out the epiphany so that you get all the good it has to offer.

Step 3: Share It.

Now, go teach what you learned to someone else. You could share what you documented as a social media post or a blog post. But, if you’re not a fan of posting on social media, talk about it in a private setting. Share your insights with a friend, spouse, relative or child. Have a conversation about it. For example, I do a daily conversation with God which involves journaling. After I’m done, I read the answer I received from God out loud to my husband, and we talk about it. His questions and insights give me even more knowledge and insights than I could have gotten on my own.

This simple three-step process stores your aha moments into the hippocampus of your brain and it’s yours. It lasts forever. The Spirit can pull the memory and the wisdom back in the moment that you need to speak it, share it, or need it again. AND you have it documented to refer back to later. Many of the aha moments I’ve documented ended up going into one of my 33 books!

Best Benefit of All…

Are you going to try it? I hope you will! Make this an ongoing process, and you’ll be amazed at how many epiphanies and insights you start to receive. As you give your insights more love by using this 3-step process, you show God that you are listening, and He’ll start speaking to you even more regularly than before! That is the best benefit of all!
