Naamah’s Groundhog – Groundhog Animal Symbolism

Naamah’s Groundhog is a new illustrated book written by Allison Amanda Hansen MacKay and illustrated by Elaine W. Duree. If you love animal symbolism and are interested in groundhog animal symbolism, you’ll love this beautifully crafted, full-color book. Naamah’s Groundhog is about Noah’s wife who helped him gather the animals for the ark. It is a delightful story about what she learned from the animals – specifically a groundhog.

I don’t recall ever reading a more beautifully illustrated book. Elaine W. Duree did a masterful job. As a nature lover who looks for God’s wisdom and messages in nature and blogs regularly on animal symbolism, Naamah’s Groundhog resonated with me on a deep level.

Groundhog Animal Symbolism

In Naamah’s Groundhog we learn from the groundhog that it takes courage to both burrow in and heal and to rise into the light and face the shadows of the world.

If you love exploring animal symbolism and what animals can teach us about life, courage and resilience, you’ll enjoy Naamah’s Groundhog. It is available in paperback on Amazon.

Who Is Naamah?

The name of Noah’s wife is not mentioned in conjunction with Noah in the Bible, but it is mentioned elsewhere in the Bible and in other Hebrew accounts.

“According to the midrash known as Genesis Rabbah (c. 300–500 C.E.), a collection of ancient rabbinical interpretations of Genesis, she was Naamah, the daughter of Lamech and sister of Tubal-Cain (Genesis 4:22). Later midrash, such as the medieval Book of Jasher, seemingly uncomfortable with Noah’s wife being from the descendants of Cain, states she is Naamah the daughter of Enoch.”
