Release the Past and Celebrate You!
Many of us have been through hard things. It’s human nature to want to sift through the past, learn the lessons, and figure out how we could do things differently in the future. I know I’ve done that – especially after my second divorce, I replayed everything over and over in my mind trying to figure out what went wrong and why my then-husband ended our marriage suddenly after only 18 months.
After hashing it through relentlessly with my father, with great patience my dad finally said, “You are probably never going to know. I bet he doesn’t even know why he did what he did.”
That was a pivotal point for me. I felt the truth of my father’s words. This moment set me free to move on and create a beautiful life.
There comes a point where we need to take into our possession and really celebrate all the gifts, talents, compassion, strengths and coping skills we’ve gleaned through hard times. There are always equal gifts as challenges in any situation. If we’re not seeing that, we need to dig deeper.
Gather all the good, celebrate who you are today, and let the past go. A beautiful tomato plant doesn’t relentlessly lament over the manure it was planted in. We don’t sift through the fertilizer itemizing the grossness of it in commiseration with the tomato plant. No! We rejoice in the plant and the fruit it bares. We pick fresh tomatoes, and we make salsa!
Release the past and make salsa with your life!
